storytime crafts, chilren's furniture, handmade crafts, decoupage, children reading

It's been fun to watch Lisa as she got  started with her idea - figuring out how to add illustrations from classic children's books to chairs and tables. Lisa thinks through which book would be best for each piece and how to feature the illustrations, title, and perhaps some text to maximum effect. I continue to be amazed by her artistic sense as the inspiration for each project takes hold. I'm so happy to watch her enthusiasm for books evolve into sharing her projects with her admirers.

I've seen this collection of furniture/artwork in person. The photos can not possibly give these works of art justice. They are amazingly creative, each one telling a familiar story, created through use of decoupage and an amazing imagination!!

I truly believe that when passion is the main driver in life’s work, great things come of it. Storytime Crafts is the product of true passion, love and commitment that the founder, Lisa Vergara, has for her work. Having known Lisa for many years, I have seen first hand what it looks like to passionately make a dream a reality and dedicate your life to helping others. That is exactly how Storytime Crafts came to life.

I personally have been a professional dancer in New England for 4 years, which has given me the amazing opportunity to participate in countless community events and volunteer work. After watching Lisa build Storytime Crafts, I had the chance to volunteer and read at her “Read to Succeed” literacy event at the Lincoln Elementary School in Revere. It was a day I will never forget and I feel so blessed to have been a part of it.

The Storytime Crafts mission statement is to  “promote literacy through art, kindness and community” – this is exactly what I got to see first hand that day. I met dozens of smiling, laughing and excited children whose happiness was all derived from literature, which is exactly what Lisa set out to do. I hope to continue to support the Storytime Crafts mission since I truly resonate with the mission and all that it does for the communities we live in and beyond.
